An Announcement from Nick and Lani & The Powers Team
After four years manning the helm, we have decided to pass on ownership of Powers Market. We are so grateful to have been able to reopen the market and for our team’s dedication to grow it as an integral part of the community. However, with the increased growth of Pangaea, we think it best to relinquish ownership to someone who can be on site consistently and give Powers the full attention it deserves.
We are fortunate to have found a local owner with a personal history in the village and a deep appreciation for Powers Market’s place in the community. They are currently finalizing the details of their agreement with the building owner.
What does this mean for you, our wonderful customers?
Our last day open will be Tuesday, March 31st. During this last month, we will be operating limited hours Tuesday – Saturday, closed on Sundays and Mondays, as well as running down our grocery inventory. We will try to keep bread and milk in supply as long as possible. Any outstanding catering events will be handled by Pangaea. We highly encourage anyone with Powers Market gift cards to come in and use those up as we will not be able to honor them after March 31st.
We are so grateful to all the support we have from this community, from all we learned running such an historic gem, and for the warmth and love and care of all our employees. We hope you will join us for our last day to get your fill of what’s left before the interim closure.

Who We Are
Centered in the heart of North Bennington for almost the past two centuries, 9 Main Street has been the place for locals and travelers alike to stock up on groceries as well as unique Vermont Gifts.
Powers has seen a number of stewards charged with the care of it’s space over the years. The newest have been around for a while doing similar at Pangaea Restaurant across Lincoln Square.
Lani and Nick take great pride in their ability to help the Village be a warm, welcoming place of commerce while providing employment opportunities to the most passionate people on this planet.
Sarah and Rory came on board with the same passion and vision. Together they are caretaking the history and legacy of the building which has been, in some shape or form, a village market dedicated to serving the North Bennington community since 1833.
What We Offer
Powers Market is taking it back to the traditional style of Vermont Country Store. We currently offer all the basic grocery essentials, featuring produce, dairy, bread, and meat from local farms, daily ready to go dishes, take+bake meals in oven ready containers, craft beverages including local beer and fine wine, local artisanal goods, fine Vermont Gifts, and party packages. We also offer a warm and welcoming community environment and hope to be a hub of North Bennington where you can come for local information, event news, to catch up with a neighbor, or just say hi to Clark the Shop Dog.
